Judges hand down sentences based on the law and the assessment of evidence, a task of the highest intellectual and moral responsibility. AI can predict judicial outcomes and summarize lengthy case files, but the EU AI Act prohibits automated judicial decision-making without human oversight. The ability to assess intent, remorse, and the social circumstances of the defendant is a strictly human quality.
