Ship engineers are responsible for the mechanical operation of vessels, an extreme physical task in an isolated environment. AI monitors engine performance and predicts mechanical breakdowns, optimising fuel consumption during the voyage. Nevertheless, emergency repairs at sea and the physical maintenance of complex systems in the engine room require human ingenuity and physical strength.
